Has anyone ever taught at an all-Hispanic elementary school? How were the kids?

I would think it'd be difficult to control your class if you can't speak Spanish because the children would know you can't call their parents since there's a language barrier.

Will they listen to a non-Hispanic teacher?

Although I haven't taught a class, my friend's mother works at a school where 94% of the students are Hispanics.

She teaches ESL, and admits that there is an active language barrier, but the universal language often makes it easier. Unless the student has some sort of communicating problem other than the language barrier, many hand signals, and approval/disapproval is clearly portrayed. If you are planning to teach an all-Hispanic school, I highly advise you to learn some Spanish before you start your job.

My friend's mother teaches a poor district, and although they are underprivileged, they are eager to learn and due to the young age and lack of exposure, it should be an enjoyable experience.

I wish you luck!

I have an aunt who teaches at a school with 90% hispanic students. she says about half of her classes misbehave, but This is her 3rd school district she has moved to and one of the other districts also was majority of hispanics and they were alot more proper then the one she is in now. I would guess it really depends what part of the country you are in. My guess is southern california would be more who speak spanish. If closer to texas then propably they would act more like country kids. I am half hispanic and half white. I currently live in kansas and here we are pretty well behaved. not so sure from any other place though. You should also learn a little spanish because they might throw in some spanglish with there sentences.
