what is the best way to teach a puppy not to grab onto your pants?

my puppy wants to bite my pants legs while im walking and i dont know how to teach him not to do that. also just curious how long does it usually take them to learn there name?
i see some of the jerks have made there way in here today.. if you dont want to answer a question the rite way dont bother....
