Blessed - Read my profile has a spectacular aura about
Jehovah's Witnesses and origin of the 1914 teaching?

In my research, I've come accross some claims about the origin of the 1914 doctrine but and I can't find my original sources. If you know what I'm talking about and have CREDIBLE sources regarding this issue, please share!

Where did CT Russel originally find this date from? Was it pyramidology?

What did the Watchtowe Society CLAIM that was the source of his "revelation" (Jeruselum destroyed in 607?) and what was the actual date as recorded in history?

(Yes, the question is just as fuzzy as my memory. If I can easily point to a time line to prove to my mom, a JW, that 1914 was a false date, she may be inclined to hear the rest of what I have to say. Any help you can give is much appreciated.)
Even if you don't have sources, but can give me a little more clarity or ideas where to for the answers, I'd much appreciate it!
I agree, Soldier, but since they've masked that deception with yet another, the date still has importance.

They now believe this is the date of Jesus' invisible return, which is why I'm intent on proving to her the origins of the date.
