How do you teach a 3 1/2 yr old boy to stop wetting the bed?

Im tired of buying pull ups for him to sleep in. He uses the bathroom during the day but at night he wets his bed. I sure could use some advise! I just dont know what to say to him. I wake him in the night and take him to the potty, and he still wakes up wet. Should we get angry and punish him or what?
BTW he is a very smart little boy!
what time should we put him to bed and what time should we wake him in the night to go potty?

i have a nrealy 3 year old. he is nearly potty traine throughout the night now.
i mst stress that potty trainign isnt about how smart or dumb a kid is. its each child's body being ready.
positive actions are the way to go. i agree with resisting drinks 2 hrs before bedtime. my little one so badly wants to still wants to finish his sippy cup at night and we say no.
after a few says we have go t him used to having the sippy cup earlier( just as we get home) he gettign close to be beign dry through the night.
my kid is up at about 5.30 to pee and then he lay down or get up again.

All you can do is be patient! Don't punish him! Unfortunately, I had those problems when I was younger...I was older than 3 1/2 I'll just put it that way! I would DREAM that I was getting up and going to be bathroom when in fact I was still lying in bed just peeing away!!
