How do I make my teaching resume stand out if I haven't taught for a while?

(I've been in school but want to go back to teaching.) Will that kill my chances of landing a teaching job?

Emphasis experienced and licensed. It will make you stand out in many areas. Go to job fairs and drop your resume off at schools. Ask to speak to the principal if he or she is available. Two hours after arrival is typically a good time. Best wishes!

Research the school for their current priority needs and state in your resume (using strong verbs) your qualities that can meet their needs. This shows your certification. Landing a job also involves proving your quaifications during an interview process and probably already having one foot in the door by knowing someone or substituting/volunteering in the district. It doesn't hurt if you are willing to do extra duties/coach, etc.

I would think that life's experiences could enable you to be an effective, successful teacher. A resume tells who you are and what you have done. Emphasize the positive. Let them know who you are and what you have done. What other experiences do you have in addition to the educational requirements?

I don't think the resume is the last word on this. What is important is if you know that you are a good teacher, if you know how to teach. And if you have interest or passion about it. Good luck
