Why are all weapons taught in Kung Fu? If you look at my previous question, i ask the opposite for Japanese martial arts and why they are all taught in different arts, but i want to know why Kung Fu teaches all weapons instead. I know it only makes sence that in Japan you had an art for every weapon, if you just want to lean Hand-to-Hand, you learn jujitsu or aikijutsu. If weapons, Kenjutsu, bojutsu, sojutsu, ect. The same for Korean arts, well kinda, Taekwondo for hand-to-hand, kumdo for swordsmanship. But what if i want to just learn the Chinese broad sword(Dao) or Chinese staff(Guun)? Why aren't there Chinese arts that let you specialize in only on weapon? What if i just learn how to use Chinese weapons but i have to learn hand-to-hand fighting. My point is, Why can i learn Kenjutsu, Kendo, Banshay(Burmese Swordsmanship), or European Fencing, but not Dao or Jian Fencing??? Honest to God, someone please answer me this. lus did anyone ever see the movieHeroes of the East... One Wushu guy against like 10 Japanese Fighters!!

why not be a well rounded martial artist, and wait til rank appropriate to learn each weapon an art employs?Ken-do and ken-jutsu are the same coin, opposite sides,as is aiki-do and aiki-jutsu.One is the way of and one is the scientifc/technique aspect..You have a lot more to learn about the martial arts.In some cases,if you cannot learn it empty hand, then how are you going to leanr having a weapon in your hand, learning only one weapon is an example of a lack of committment

There are many Japanese martial arts schools that teach several weapons. Many of these same schools will only teach this after you have at least reached the rank of a brown belt. It is believed that the average person will not have the hand and eye coordination to master those weapons before then.
