Who exactly are you to say that a parent should have a teaching certification?

I asked a question about this earlier. A lot of people from California said it is right and fair. That parents who home school should have a teaching certificate. Who are you to mandate this and make that choice? How can you say this? How can you deny someone the right to raise their child as they see fit? You are taking away someone’s right. Plain and simple.

I was amazed at how many responded this way and then said well I don't have kids. HMMMMMMMMMMMM.

That is like saying I am against gay rights, but then I am not gay!!!

No.

What California is trying to do is take away rights.

Taxes are no excuse. Don't get my started. I am gay and I pay so many taxes that go to things I can't share in. .

HUMAN RIGHTS!! What is wrong with our society? Why would you want to take away someone else’s rights? If someone took away one of your rights you hold dearly how would you feel? Think about that and then ask yourself, how do I deny someone else?
Meg ~ You bring up a wonderful point. Most states don't require that for a private school.

Then again, in Louisiana you are lucky to find some to teach in any school. There they will pass on the certification to have a teacher.
I went to public school. My grammar and spelling is terrible. Yes I could have taken the time to learn more or MY PARENTS could have helped, but they thought the public school did. I was set back when I went to college. It was hard. It is still hard. It amazes me how many speak for public schools now, but on any other day they would condemn them.
Balaam ~ You are irrational. Parents should have the right to not put their children in public school.
