Why should a President have military experience to run DOD but doesn't need...

...teaching experience to run DOE? Is there an assumption that just because you participated in something you know how to run it?

The military defense of this country is absolutely essential to its survival. Whether or not the government controls education is optional.

I do not think it is absolutely necessary as long as he has a defense team with experience. Rosevely was a polio victim. He was a president during ww2 while in a wheel chair. I do question a draft dodger becoming president.

Ask Hillary. She thinks that just because her husband was President she has experience.

BTW - I don't think Hagel meant you need to live there. Just visit once in a while.
