| What is preaching/teaching the Gospel with "authority"?
I was recently told that because I don't claim to know the hearts of other Christians, and therefore I refuse to condemn them as "unsaved," that I don't preach/teach the Gospel with "authority." To most Christians, does sounding angry and self-righteous and judgmental mean you have more "authority" than if you speak calmly, and with love for your brothers and sisters in Christ? If so, how does that jibe with Jesus's statement that He gave us "one command: Love one another as I have loved you"? John 15: 9 - 12 Just wondering what most Christians think. |
