Sarah B has a spectacular aura about
Is it confusing to teach children to think for themselves?

I always think that it is good to question things. I have raised my children so far (8 years old and 8 months old) to think for themselves. My daughter will come home from school and tell me what she learned and I will question her on it. The other day she came home and said that her teacher said that if you walk for an hour, that is how far a kilometer is. My daughter said, "That is not accurate, you can walk fast or slow... that would make what she said not accurate!". I was so proud of her for using her own mind and not 'thinking like a typical classmate'. We came home from church today and we were talking about Moses and the Red Sea. We talked about how beautiful the story is and shows God's love for his people and also how it also conflicts with some of the other ideas in the Bible.

Am I wrong to teach my kids to respect other's beliefs, yet question them before making them their own? Is that confusing to them?
