| Why are young kids taught about racism?
When I was six years old a teacher came into school to teach us about racism. She told us about this young black girl who got called names like 'brownie' by white children. During the lesson all the kids were looking round to see who was of a different race to themselves even though they'd never really noticed or cared before. As soon as the lesson was over a white boy went straight over to an indian girl and called her a brownie. It was my first experience of racism and it wouldn't have happened if that teacher hadn't taught us about it. Does anyone else agree that kids shouldn't be taught about racism? Isn't it just the same as kids getting taught about terrorism and other serious crimes?
