How do I teach my pup how to walk on leash?

I am a first time dog owner... I just got an Italian Cane Corso (large breed) and hes 11wks old.... training has been very fun an productive so far, hes already house trained, he can sit on command...still havent worked on Down and Stay yet. So, the most trouble im having with my pup is getting him to walk with me on the leash... he doesnt pull or anything, he simply just doesnt walk with me.... I try to go one way and he doesnt want to and stays put.... I try to force him a lil bit but then he walks backwards choking himself pretty hard.... At first I thought, there is no way he gonna keep choking himself, so I tried to pull him along...but man he seriously wont stop choking himself trying to go the other way, so I have to stop and give up on the exercise since I dont want him to be terrified of walking on the leash..... this is the only problem Ive had with him so far and it seems like walking a dog on a leash should be pretty basic....please help!! Thanks in advance

Usually, I start by putting the leash on the puppy and letting him run around the house with it to get used to it. Next, I start walking him around the house by the leash, using praise and treats. After a short time, he starts to realize that moving with me is a good thing.

If you are worried about choking, try using a halter or a gentle leader instead of just a collar.

Remember, patience is the best way to go. Teaching a puppy anything takes time.
