How to you teach your dog to stop barking at the vacuum?

He doesn't even need to see the vacuum all it takes is me plugging in the cord to get him started. If I don't put him outside he will attack the vacuum all the while barking constantly. What can I do to train him that the vacuum is fine and to not bark/attack it?
