is teaching really a teacher's passion?

Now don't get me wrong-- I've encountered many awesome teachers throughout my life who have inspiried me to pursue many things.

However, since I started high school, I've been given the impression from some teachers that they could careless about the students and ONLY teach because of the good benefits and pay (I live in Canada so this may differ from other countries). Also, my business teacher said he teaches because there weren't any job openings for him.

so please answer honestly-- why do these teachers teach if they have abosoultly no love for it (i think it's because teaching is an easy profession to get into from what i hear, although i may be wrong)
