Teaching question?

My husband and I are both getting our degrees in teaching.
We are both going to teach early elementary education, kindergarten through fourth grade. I was wondering if anyone knew if two people who are married can be employed at the same school? I honestly don't see why not, and it would save us loads on gas money and things like that.
If anything, I would see it as beneficial to our careers, not hindering. Does anyone know? Is it different in different school districts or states? I'd really like to go somewhere where we could work together.
We live in Texas, by the way, if that effects things at all.
For the people that have answered so far, thank you!

My husband and I are really close, and it would be nice to be able to experience the same things and get to know the same coworkers and stuff. It's so good to hear that it might be possible for us!

It totally depends on the district. I have worked in districts where you could be married but not work in the same building, as well as in districts that didn't care if you worked in the same building. Good luck finding a job!

I live in NY State and there are quite a few couples teaching in the same schools. I've never heard of any prohibition against it.

most bosses shy away from having related people working for them, usually because it makes disciplinary issues more complicated. especially in public employment.

Yes, in many states/districts you can. I would check to make sure, as a district may have the ability to limit that, but I've never heard of it.

My husband and I teach in a school in New Mexico that has had 3 other married couples and an engaged couple. Couples aren't put on the same team, so it avoids a strange situation. Now, when my husband gets his administrative license, he won't be able to be a principal in the same school where I teach (he'd be in a supervisory position). When I went to school in Ohio, one of the kindergarten teachers was married to a gym/science teacher. Most places probably won't have a problem as long as you don't have the same students or have one person in a superior position over another.
