I believe that having more modern conveniences has actually brought on the level of stress that most modern people have in their lives. Because you can accomplish so much more in a shorter time now, there is always the mental compulsion to push and get that huge amount done. Is it better to know that you have accomplished that much, or is it better to have done half as much well and by yourself and have the satisfaction of knowing you are solely responsible for the effort, not your dishwasher or your computer? It seems that the aim these days is quantity, not quality. That is just wrong, on so many levels. Anyway, that's a place to start with your question. I hope it helped.

There are many disadvantages of modern technology, but I personally believe the greatest are the increased level of stress on individuals in society (wasn't it better when your boss couldn't reach you on your Blackberry while you were supposed to be vacating at the beach?) and the increased energy consumption.
