Kerry H has a spectacular aura about
My baby is on sobee formula and here lately all she wants to do is cry and she

acts like she is hungry.? What do I do? She is only 6 weeks old, she is up to five onces that seems to much for her age, but yet it still doesn't saticfy her. Do you think I should switch her to regular formula? I even been putting cereal in her milk at night and she still wants more. Could she have caulic?

She does not have colic.

Stop adding cereal in her milk.

She is having a growth spurt.

Here's the deal, all babies, no matter how they are fed go through growth spurts. Since babies were designed to breastfeed, their biology tells them during a growth spurt to demand more milk, more often from their mother in order to build mother's milk supply to where it can satisfy baby.

Your baby doesn't know she's not breastfed, funny, right? To respond like mother nature intends, you need to feed her more frequently, sometimes every hour, with a few ounces until her body thinks that she'll get enough milk from you.

The big growth spurts are at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months (with some inbetween.) She doesn't need cereal, that is *dangerous*! At the very least she can't digest it, at the worst, it is a choking hazard, linked to allergies, obesity, diabetes, and a lot of health problems only visible when baby is older.

No more cereal.

More milk, more often.

She'll calm down again when her body thinks she's upper 'your' milk supply.

MOMMY1 has a spectacular aura about
Hi! Cereal at 6 weeks seems a bit young (in my opinion). I would ask her pediatrician about doing that and also about how much she is eating and the crying. My thought is that she could be very gassy. Have you tried laying her on her back and gently bending her legs up to her tummy-I did this with my son and he would be able to expel some gas-sounds kind of gross I know but it sure helped him. If the doctor says gas drops are ok you could try those as well. Also, try a warm washcloth on her tummy. Colic is also an option. You will want to talk with your doctor though for what would be most appropriate if you decide to change formulas b/c when you change formulas that can cause stomach upset in babies (not always but sometimes). Hope she feels better soon!

Well if you're giving her cereal at night, then she is probably wanting it in the day too. I would just feed her until she pulls away. And when a baby is colicky it's VERY hard to calm them down. You can tell when it's colic because they're in pain. Does she pull her legs up and then straighten them out over and over? Try rubbing her belly or holding her on her left side while you pat her butt. Maybe give her some gas drops. But, with the feeding thing, I would just give her more food.

Hmm, at 6 wks she is too young for cereal, you can give her digestive problems, so probably dont do anymore that unless doc says it is ok. Are you sure baby is hungry and doesnt have a stomach ache? Try gas drops. Sometimes they think they are hungry, but they cant tell the tummy aches apart. Although each baby is different, somebabies just eat more.

My concern about the kind of formula is that she is crying all the time as you say. This maybe an allergy to the formula instead, she may have cholic, which can be pretty awful... I am thinking that you need to switch formulas. The downside of formula (as opposed to breastfeeding) is that many moms I have known have to go through 3-5 different formulas till they find one that doesnt make the baby cry, give her diahrea, make her constipated, give her gas, or any of those things. Watch her poo diapers, sometimes this can tell what is wrong with her formula.

five ounces for a six week old doesnt seem like too much at all, i would try giving her more and if she eats it and she is fine then keep giving her more for her bottles i think babies at this age should eat between 5-8 ounces per feeding every 3-4 hours, mine all did anyway
