Kicking my seat at the movie theater?

how do you react when somebody is kicking the back of your seat during a movie. Usually I just give a brief "look" so they know that they are doing something wrong.

Also does anybody get uncomfortable drinking their sodas when they are in a cup holder right next to the person beside you? I feel sorry that somebody next to me in a movie theater could possibly see the spit dripping right off my straw so I try to take very little sips. And also Ive never been in a theater where sombody had a cup directly next to me so for those who have, how do you handle these situations?

I like the "are these seats getting closer or are people's feet getting bigger" IF you say it in a non-sarcastic tone of voice. It registers disapproval without putting someone on the defensive. If that doesn't work, I'd move. If no seats are available, complain to the manager.

this may sound mean but if it's a little kid kicking (like 8 or 9-old enough to know better), i push my chair back. If it's a teen, i crush their legs or ask my friend really loudly if the seats are getting closer or people's feet are getting bigger. haha, not really but that'd be funny

If there is ever anybody beside me, I don't use that cupholder. Worst case scenario, I just hold it. besides, that way they never have cause to look in your direction

Kicking my seat... step 1 is "the look"

no change, step 2. "the look" modified by standing up, turning around, and squaring off. A very obvious threat. coupled by the fact that you will attract the attention of half the theater, usually ends the problem without speaking a word.

Step 3... see the theater manager; mid-movie if necessary.
