What was the jacked up ending people talk about with "The Mist"?

What was the ending of The Mist? I see questions about it, but I dont know what it is. Is it still in theaters or on DVD already?

On DVD nowThe thing that pissed people off about the end was that 4 people and a young boy escaped the store in a car. The car dies and they think a creature will come and kill them. So, instead of dying a painful or gruesome death by the creatures, one of them decides it would be best if they died by their own hand. So one of them shoots the other 3 and the boy. 2 minutes later, the military arrives and is killing the mist off. Had the waited another 2 minutes, they would've lived.

The explanation above it correct but what is so messed up is... There are 5 of them and only four bullets. The guy, who is also the little boy's dad (that's the kicker), decides to shoot all but himself. Then he steps out of the car to await his awful death by the creatures. But instead that's when the "mist" begins to clear and the military is driving by with other survivors in their trucks....

well all of it was jacked up, but it was done in a brilliant way. Most movies these days, you know who's gonna die b/c they're stupid acting in the film. This was sorta realistic how SOME PEOPLE would act. After a DUMB ESCAPE PLAN. The four people that actually MAKE it to the car get in and take off. It's the dad (who doesn't know if his wife is dead, which she probably is), the dad's 7 year old kid, woman (dad's potential new love interest if they can't find wife) and an older lady i think. So for some dumb reason they take off not knowing what's out there or where to go, because of the Mist (fog, and there are giant creatures in the fog. obviously can't call it the fog, because that'll confuse it with the new and remake movie "The Fog." and i'm sure the makes of it will try to sue, so it's called the Mist). They don't stop at a gas station or a place to get ammo or food or anyyyyytttthhhhhiiiinnnngggg. The car goes out of gas and they're stuck there. They're thinking it's no hope, so the dad shoots his sleeping son, and the two women because there's only enough bullets left for that. He's the one that will be eaten basically so he's crying and then he hears a sound, but it ends up being the military and they have guns and a tank and all that stuff, so the dad's crying like OH MY %$#$###. To the audience, it's like if he waited 3 minutes the four would have been saved. But if you're "in the movie' you wouldn't know that, what if it was THE MIST (monster, creatures, predators, etc), then that would suck for him, though it would be courageous. I didn't give it all away, i mean you know the ending but you don't know what the Mist is or how the four got in the car. You should watch it it's GOOD, it's on dvd. It's more terror than horror. If you have a good sound system, you'll feel like you just got off a roller coaster. It reminds me of the Alien movies as far as not knowing the creature and being scared for the characters.So CHECK IT OUT. it's a stephen king story.
