Why is he acting like this?

My BF and I are both turning 24 this year and have been dating for a little over 2 years, and were dating off and on for 2 years before that. Everything was great until last week when he told me that he's had a similar dream 3-4 times over the past 4 months and that it has involved a girl that he is acquainted with. Now he's confused about our relationship and what he wants? We've always been happy together - we've made verbal plans to get married in October 2010 and to buy a house together in the not-so-distant future, and also to start a family within the next 5-6 years. We're both very successful, very ambitious, generally happy people and I don't understand why he would want to throw away our great relationship over a silly dream about a girl? I mean, people dream about other people all the time, but they don't end their relationships over it, do they?
Thanks for your answer, Leeta. Whenever I ask him to talk about it he always just says 'just forget about it' and we go on being our happy old selves...I trust him and hopefully he'll open up soon.
Is it just me, or would it be crazy to end a great relationship with someone to see if another person had any feelings for them?
