My algae eater is acting weird.. What to do?

I have an oto in my 8 gallon tank. My tank is fairly clean and im concerned that he isnt getting enough to eat. Is there anything else that I can give him to eat? also i know that they are nocturnal so should i feed him at night? Thanks
