My chicken is acting funny... Help?

My chickens somehow escaped from their coop and a dog got to one of my hens; it left her with flesh wounds and such and other than that she looks fine. But all she does is lie down and sleep. She hardly eats or anything... is she sick? What can I do? I'm really worried. She means so much to me...

put an animal antiseptic on the wounds to prevent infection, first of all. See if you can tempt her with pieces of bread, boiled egg yolk, and things like that. She is probably too traumatized to do anything right now, and if she doesn't eat anything, she will die. You can try taking her to a bird veterinarian and see if they will have any other recommendations such as antibiotic medications or foods that will encourage her to eat.

my chicken got attacked by a fox the other day and her leg was paralyzed, so we took her to get put down. a lot of places would do it for free for poultry. you probably want to take her to the vet and see if it's the best thing.
