Friend's dog just had puppies, friend is acting crazy.?

My friend (my ex roommate) her dog just had puppies, she's a chi and we're sure the father is a yorkie. The pups are almost 5 weeks and they are able to open their eyes, walk, eat soft dog food, etc. but still depend on their mother a lot for the nutrients from her milk and her socialization. I picked one out, that I planned on getting when it was 8 weeks, when I went over there she kept begging me to go ahead and take it and I told her no that they needed more time with their mother. She said she was tired of them pooping all in the room and she was ready to get rid of them because her house stunk from them and she would give mine away if someone came and wanted it before I did. I really want the pup but, I don't want to take it from it's mother too soon. I have no idea how to face this situation or what I should do. Any advice?! Thank you in advance!!!
