| I think maddog got it right. The Chicago Cubs and the Cincinatti Reds are the oldest franchises that still exist today in their original cities. I think the Braves are just as old (though they were the Boston Braves when they started). |

| The Chicago Cubs and THE Philadelphia Phillies (with the Phillies being the oldest, continuous, one-name, one-city franchise in all of professional sports!) Reason that I throw out the Reds from contention is that they were expelled from the NL for a few years for refusing to stop selling beer and for renting out the Park for use on Sundays which were both penalties in the 1800's. |
