Question on Model Kit Paint?

I have a 3 year old Academy paint bottle and now they have seperated. Should I microwave it and mix it or how do I fix this problem? If I have to microwave it how should I microwave? pour the paint out? Leave the cap on? Also there is another cap under the cap and this cap you pull it out, So do I have to take this one off too?
