Why is it forbidden to draw the Islamic prophet Muhammed? I've been asking this question for a while now, to various people. So far I haven't gotten a fair answer. The answers basically always came down to a simple "Because it is so". I hope someone can clarify this, and please don't start dumping millions of links to qu'ran and islam websites. I want to hear it from you. Thanks in advance!

I say if you can draw....draw anything you want. Art is interpretational. Personally Muhammed would make a great GI Joe Villan. He should have on Camo, a Ninja Mask, a Qu'ran that turns into a C4 explosives, and a turbin that has a rocket launcher.

I dont know but how can you draw someone when you dont even know what he looked like? Would I get death threats if I drew a stick figure with a beard and wrote "Prophet Mohammed" under it? Would I? Because everyone loves my stick figures...why wont the muslim

I saw a report about it on youtube. I think it was something the high Muslim clergy agreed that there were to stop making images of Muhammad. Therefore most of the conservative Muslims countries have banned the making of those.

Well if you mean those who mock him .. well it's because it's disrespectfull and we don't even accept it for Jesus we don't know how he looks so we don't go drawing about his shape and all that .. it's like if you want to draw god? you don't know how he looks and you just don't draw him (P.S i'm not saying he's like god .. just giving an example) that's what i think it least

The more pointless rules you can get your followers to adhere to, the more your followers feel special for being part of your little club. If you can get your sheeple to obey completely inane rules and then feel *proud* for doing so, you can end up with some pretty devoted fans who will continue to support your position of power and authority (and of course money and women and such). Think of religion as being like rooting at a sporting event. We don't normally cheer like loons for people we don't even know, but when we get together in a crowd and agree to do so at once, we form a sort of communal bond that strengthens our loyalty and gives us a sense of belonging. If we can bond over how well the Mets do, we can bond over how superior our favorite ancient legend is to all others, and we might even convince ourselves to devote our lives to acting as if the legend were true.
