Did she just confess or what? Did she go under a legitimate email address? The IP address doesn't reveal very much - just location such as state, town, sometimes neighborhood, but not the person who did it - so how do they know?
At some point, she obviously admitted it so I also want to know why is this woman not in jail?
Well, IP addresses rarely identify precise computers, though, especially with a wireless connection. IP addresses certainly cannot identify people. That isn't true. It can identify location and some can identify other sites that you've been on that can narrow down who it is - especially personal email, but an IP address in and of itself doesn't not pinpoint one single person.
