i want to know my landlord said we can paint but it has to be a white , do we have

to listen ? we live in augusta georgia
well he said it would be easy on him if we paint them white, we asked he about painting them a different color , thats when he said that, we said we would even paint them back when we left . can he kick us out, for painting something different? is there a law?

If he said only "white"...that what he means. Altering the landlords property without his permission can lead to eviction.

If you decide to paint in a color other than white, you'll either have to repaint the walls white before you leave or you'll lose your security deposit. The landlord, after all, does own the property and it will revert to him when you leave.

you might be able to go alittle off white but land lords are pretty serious people (being that they control if you live there or not, if your going to get your deposit back) they might decide that because you didnt follow the rules when you first move in that they are going to have to re-paint when you leave. they will take the cost of repainting out of your deposit. (they might buy expensive paint too if they are really upset)
