Could I paint the Wooden counter top?

In our bathroom, we have a counter top, its worn away, and looks out of place, we have some white paint for the walls around, could we paint it using that? we don't have the money do buy a new counter top or expensive paint,

and also, we have a wooden storage unit where we put all the shampoo's etc, which is worn out, could we also paint this?
