It's hard without knowing what kind of paint, but if you couldn't get it out with soap and water I would guess oil based. Either way, you may have to use a paint/varnish remover to get it out. Then again, a few months ago I got some black paint on my friend's light pink pajamas, and i got it out by soaking, rubbing it with stain remover with my fingers, rinsing, and doing that several times. After I had done that for a while, I sprayed with stain remover and washed in cold water and it was completely gone, so try that before using paint remover!! Also if you do test first on fabric of jeans....

if the stain doesn't come out in the wash, try it again. DO NOT PUT JEANS IN THE DRYER that seals in stains!

good luck
