| Lead abatement method: Lead Paint Encapsulation? I am presently in the process of lead abatement in my home. The gentleman who is performing this abatement says he is using the process of "encapsulation" to cover up and protect by children from the lead paint. The problem I am having is with the materials he is using. To me, it looks and feels like regular paint. I was told that the encapsulating paint is like a latex paint..kinda rubbery to the touch when finished drying. The paint that this gentlemen has put on my walls is not rubbery to the touch..but very, very dry. Dry to the point of leaving a "white" residue on my hand. My friend says that the paint used in encapsulation should not leave any residue, especially right after it dries. He said again.."it should feel almost rubbery to the touch...it should be able to withstand little bump and knocks that would otherwise cause chipping and flaking. So..the question is: Is there a texture difference between "encapsulating" paint and say the regular paint you would use? |
