| I use water-soluble oils, and I need to know about a safe painting structure.? I know that I can use acrylic as a base for an oil painting. Is it Ok to use more than 3 layers for an oil painting, even many more, keeping to fat over lean? If so, would this be a safe structure: acrylic, thinned alkyd, straight alkyd, thinned oil, less thinned oil, straight oil paint, oil with Winsor-Newton painting medium (for water soluble oils), with a small amount of oil, with a greater amount of oil, with a still greater amount of oil? If not, how many layers can I safely lay down with water soluble oils, and with what mediums? Thank you so much for thinking about this. I have found no answers anywhere on the web. Barbara |
