Is drawing all about shading?

It kinda seems to me that it is. Like, it's not too hard getting the outline of an object or person .. but what really makes it look qualty is the lighting and shading .. it makes it much more 3D and realistic.

Yes I would say it is definitely a big part of art. Most of my choice classes in school have been art and we've focused on shading in many of them so yes but their is more to it for sure.

I've most commonly heard shading and proportions being pointed out as the most important things of drawing - but then you see art like Dave McKean's and 2D drawings that are also excellent, and they defy both those rules respectively.

So it really just depends on your style and what you're aiming to draw out.
