What paint should I use to create a painting for a shop sign? It will be...

...on wood outdoors in all weathers.? I normally use waterbased acrylics to do paintings on canvas, i have agreed to do this painting for a friend. I need to use paint which reacts like waterbased acrylics as I can't do the detail I need in gloss or oils (that's because I'm rubbish at painting in oil...). Are there good outdoor paints I can use? (that won't fade too quickly?) And what should the painting be sealed with? I will not be able to touch up the painting once it is one the wall, as it's very high up and will be bolted to the building.
