| If the dog is shaved in the summer or kept inside he will be fine. I live in southern New Mexico and it gets hot, not as hot as Vegas, but hot. We had an Alaskan malamute and a husky. They both did fine but do require inside care in the middle of the summer. good Luck! |

| Double coated dogs do fine in the heat as long as you keep them very well groomed with brushing at least once daily, and make sure they have a cool, shady spot outside, a big bowl of water (can put ice cubes in it in the morning, or use a baby pool and teach your pup how to get in to cool off), and isn't left out too long unattended. If you can leave the dog inside during the hottest hours of the day, it should be fine the rest of the time. Remember, the grooming is very important, but don't ever shave your dog....it won't make them cooler. In fact, their coat helps to insulate them from the heat so you will be making things worse by shaving. Good luck! |
