Is the weather in England/Ireland REALLY as bad as everyone says???

Does it sound wierd that I feel like I was meant to be born in the UK? I've never even been there but I've had a burning desire to be there since I was a little kid. I can't explain it.

I just want an honest answer, because everything I read/hear is mixed.

"It rains just as much here as anywhere else, ignorant people are just being hypocritical"

"It rains CONSTANTLY it's so dull and the sun never comes out and it's cold every day, even in the summer."

I met a lady who lived there for 18 years and told her how I've always wanted to go and she says only visit, don't go for any length of time because it's so dull. But then I have other clients tell me how lovely it is... *Sigh* I know I'll have to find out for myself one day but in the meantime can I just have a proper heads up???

It doesn't rain everyday! I can't even remember the last time it rained and...not everyone is the same, i personally love it.

BTW, don't believe everything you hear.
