In Jane Eyre, does the weather corrilate to Jane's mood?

I promise I'm not trying to get you to do my homework for me. I noticed that the weather seemed to closely follow Jane and change with her feelings, but I got some strange looks when I suggested it. Am I off-base here?

You're right. I had to read this book sophomore year of high school and when I suggested it, everyone looked at me as if I were crazy (for whatever reason), but my teacher said that's exactly what happens.

You are right on target. This device is known as a sympathetic fallacy. Have you ever seen a movie where something wonderful happens and there is thunder and dark stormy clouds in the sky? Have you ever seen one where something terrible happens and the sky is sunny and the birds are chirping joyously? Those things never happen.
