What's the fiercest storm or disaster you've weathered?

If you had to describe the fiercest storm or disaster you've been through, whether a blizzard, typhoon, fire, earthquake, accident or that of a more personal sort, what would you pick?

Big blizzard/ice storm. everyone's power was out, 3 of my cousins had to live with me for a week, My mom, dad, neighbor, and me went out on a drive to look at the damage, we heared a big *crack* and my dad steped on the pedal, and zoomed forward, he stoped and we all lurched forward. My mom was giving my dad a big lecture, then he told us to turn around, and there was a big fallen tree where we were before before he steped on the gas. The storm lasted like, 2 weeks!

Hurricane Katrina, the storm came through Meridian, MS. at 10 AM and lasted until 7 PM that night, lights and water were off for 2-3 weeks afterward.

I live in California. It would have to be the raging fires in Laguna Beach. Also El Nino wasn't pretty.

Fiercest disaster was the eruption of Mt. St. Helens on May 18, 1980.

We lived near the base of the mountain on Spirit Lake (which was destroyed in the eruption)

We had been allowed to go home the day before by the National Guard to get some belongings if my folks signed a waiver that we wouldn't sue the government if anyone was hurt or killed.

We left our home at 10PM on May 17th and the mountain blew just after 8AM the next day.

We lost nearly everything. Our home, two of our cars, and nearly all of our personal effects.

Although we were about an hour away in Portland at the time, the amount of ash and the toll it took on the lungs was amazing.

I still have respiratory problems from it.

I lived through an F5 tornado. It was horrible and the most terrified I have ever been. Especially since I had my 3 young children in the house with me. But we made it and moved shortly after that.
