I am going to New York sometime in May. What is the weather like and what clothes

would be appropriate? I really have no idea what to pack. I'm going for at least 4 days. Are tanks and leggings okay? And what type of shoes and jackets are weather-appropriate? What type of purse should I carry? Really any details would be appreciated.
