I work in a hospital and we get students coming through regularly and some of them are ( I'm sure) older than that.

Depends on what you consider old.At earliest you'll be 32 when you start, then 4 years of school plus a minimum 3 residency puts you at 39.If you're ok with that as the earliest you'll be a fully finished off M.D. then go for it. I'm in a different field but I've seen people that looked in their 40's at class already.
